What is Magento 2?
Magento 2 is the newest version of the Magento e-commerce platform. It's relatively new compared to the Magento 1 platform but remember in 2019 Magento 1 is becoming the end of the life. This means that Magento will no longer support or release updates for the Magento 1 platform.
Shouldn't I be upgraded to Magento2?
Sadly it isn't that simple. Magento 2 is an entirely different platform compared to Magento 1 so there isn't a simple upgrade process. However, Purple Prince have developer tools and processes to rebuild your current Magento 1 into the shiny new Magento 2 platform in a quick and efficient way to avoid costing you a fortune.
Will my extensions still work?
No they won't, sorry to bear bad news but none of the extensions written for Magento 1 will work in Magento 2. This is because Magento 2 is a brand new framework using more much up to date technology.
Most developers, however have now rewritten there modules to support Magento 2 so the chances are we can get the same functionality back.

Is Magento1 still Safe?
Absolutely! As it stands there are more Magento 1 stores than Magento 2 online so until 2019 Magento 1 will still be secure and update to date.
When should I think about upgrading?
Purple Prince will continue to support Magento 1 platforms long after Magento 1 stops supporting the platform, However we are recommending to all customers to considering budgeting the cost of rebuilding into Magento 2 sooner than later, Its vital to ensure your online business stays reliable and secure in the future.
